Blood Bowl is largely down to the merit of its source, but no less enjoyable for that, and while it struggles at times to justify its price tag, it does offer a strangely compelling slice of fantasy football. The likes of which we haven't seen on consoles since EA's Mutant League Football. It's not quite as good as that maligned classic, but still deserves to carve an area of the pitch for itself. The problem is, of course, who is this for? Players of the boardgames won't gain much by opting for the video game rendition, since it doesn't offer the customization they'll be used to. Further, newcomers might enjoy it for a while but ultimately feel limited by the lack of variety. Hope lies with more updates and DLC, perhaps, but for now, Blood Bowl is a decent player that might find itself relegated to the substitution bench for now.
